Are you back?! Yes, yes I am.

Man oh man, oh motherf****** man.  It’s been a long damn time, three years to be exact. I didn’t know if I’d ever bring this back, if I could bring it back, or should I bring it back. My very last post was a little over three years ago—September (I think). What happened to all the posts from 2017-21 you may ask?

They’re gone. All of them.

Kenan Thompson in an SNL skit with eyes wide open and lips pressed shut.

Erased because of the false idea that the internet is forever (more on that in another post). In reality, there were a lot of moving parts (quitting my job, extreme burn out, etc). Dealing with all that, I began to lose sight of my first love in writing. Didn’t help that I accidentally changed a setting in my backup server that didn’t erase the main backup files.

That said, a lot has changed in three years—I have now graduated to being in my 30s (gracefully and gratefully). I am now a full-time freelancer instead of only doing it part-time (more on this later). Doing this in a city like New York is scary as fuck (and sometimes inconsistent), but honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way. Plus witnessing the doom and gloom of mass layoffs across several different industries.

I’m not gonna lie—quitting (sometimes) sucks. Really bad. We move still though, because money haffi mek, and bill haffi get pay! But having job app burnout to replace the burnout you had being an entrepreneur while working a job? A mess. Take this and throw in a late diagnosis for ADHD and it might sound like a recipe for chaos. Though it doesn’t have to be.

Fast forward three years, and I’ve done some really amazing shit. Still in therapy (shout out to Black women therapists >>), but I’ve grown more as a person. We sometimes hope and strive to do such a thing, but I can’t begin to tell you how many teenagers I’ve met in 30+ year old bodies. No judgment (I’m lying) on that as growth is linear and everyone’s story is different (within reason).

Overall though, I’m really happy I can finally bring my site back online (and have a better way of archiving my shit). Buckle up, y’all, it’s time to get on this wild ride of the 30s, and beyond.

Speaking of rides, did y’all know that they’re retiring Kingda Ka at Six Flags?! (Unrelated, I know. But man. We’re getting old.)
